Luxe Hollywood chair for dogs

20080809s.jpg Let's say you're a Maltese, you've just gotten groomed and fluff-dried, and your nails are painted pink. Where are you going to sit, to best show off your spoiled cuteness? The Hollywood Pet Chair in cotton candy pink could be just the throne for you. This chair has subtle Art Deco lines that nonetheless scream "Princess!" It's 34" wide . . . more than enough room for a Maltese to stretch out in. And the brushed fabric is oh so comfy. The Hollywood Pet Chair is also available in Kiwi green, which would go nicely with a male dachshund, but darling, really, if you are a pink toe-nailed Maltese, a spoiled princess, why would you ever give the time of day to a male dachshund?

Jazzy doggy nail polishes

20080808s.jpg

People can be surprising. Sometimes, they are obtuse as cats. But other times, they can really exercise their creativity and inventiveness. When they do it in the service of spoiling dogs, then the stars, the planets and the sun are all in harmony. Ginger the spoiled big city Sheltie here, calling your attention to Pooch Polish from Fly Pooch. The Chihuahua on their home page, saying "I'm so fly;" so cute, makes a dog want to sniff. Anyway, these handy . . or should I say, pawy . . . crayon-on dog nail polishes make it so easy for your human to doll you up for a fancy stroll out in the town. There's barking blue, ruff ruff red, dog gone gold (a perfect match with my sable fur, don't you know) and other lovely colors to enhance a girl's natural beauty. Fly Pooch sell convenient, gently-formulated cleansing pads as well. This company has the market nailed; I'm giving four joyous barks for them and their products.

Deluxe pet luggage

20080809n.jpg Perhaps you live in high style and have homes on a few continents. If so, we're quite sure you don't leave home without your well-heeled fur companion. For these swank pets we recommend the Global Gallivanter Deluxe. More than a high-end suitcase (it's made from Scandinavian leather and the interior is outfitted in Italian damask), this gorgeous design comes fully stock with all the necessities. You'll find a water bowl, pet passport holder, bone cushion and more all tucked into the lid. Beneath the case's cushion (which works as a pet bed while en route), there's a spot for doggie garments and toys. We don't know of many rock stars who travel better than this!

Book of dog names

20080807s.jpg Have you ever thought of naming a dog Beowulf? What about Chiquita? Or if you're trying to pick names for two dogs, would you ever call them Hugs and Kisses? We remember what Steve Martin's character called his dog in the movie The Jerk, and we don't think that's funny at all! But if you'd like an entertaining selection of dog name options, take a look at Joanne O'Sullivan's book Calling All Dogs: Grrreat Names for your Perfect Pooch. Perfect pooch, perfect smooch. Didn't a dog named John Fitzgerald say "Ask not what you can do for your human, ask what your human can do for you!" We once knew a lady so nutsy that she named her boy dog Juliette and her girl dog Romeo. Poor Romeo and Juliette came running in response to their names, too. Don't let this happen to you. Pick your dog's name wisely, with the assistance of Calling All Dogs.

Eco-thermic dog bowl

20080807n.jpg Maseratis, Sophia Loren, Prosecco, yes there are lots of tasty things we love about Italy. But doggie serving pieces generally didn't come to top of mind when we thought about this country blessed with an eye for all things bold and beautiful. Not so the folks at Pet Ego. They set out to give American dog lovers products with sleek, Italian style. Take the Eco-thermic bowl. Sure it looks racy and sporty. But there's more under the hood. This dish was created to keep Fido's turkey dinner warm (why pay all that money for expensive hand cooked food just to slop it in any old bowl?). To get things going, just add hot water in the lower part of the bowl. Presto! And a big thanks to our feline friends--we found this treat Via Moderncat.

Treadmill for K-9s

20080806s.jpg Ginger the spoiled big city Sheltie here, asking you, do I look like I need a treadmill, svelte as I am? Of course I don't. What between my walks in the Tuileries Gardens and my romps in the private Grammercy Park (every dog's human should be well-connected), I get plenty of high-class exercise. Yet how can you possibly be spoiled if you don't have some material things you don't need? Besides that, let me tell you, I have seen some over-eaters who really do need the Pawwws doggy treadmill. I mean, one Dachshund I know and who shall remain nameless waddles like a duck, but don't try throwing her in the water because she'll sink faster than a mutt at Westminster. Not PC, I know, but I should worry and lose my figure. Consumer testimonials on the Pawwws site include one that says a cat used one of these treadmills with regularity. Hah! And pigs will fly. What dog in her right mind is going to believe that a cat uses a treadmill?

Igloo style striped dog bed

20080805s.jpg

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a canine in possession of four tired paws, must be in want of a comfy place to curl up, rest, and make cute faces at its human companion. That's why we love the Igloo Striped Houses made by The Zazu and sold through Osso & Company, Osso being an Italian word for bone. The all cotton covers on the Igloo Striped Houses are machine washable. The real beauty in the design is that the item has enough of an enveloping quality to make a doggy feel protected, while not being closed off for long sessions of head patting and treat offerings.

Accesory laden dog leash

20080806n.jpg We like to be prepared. We really do, but so often we forget one thing or another when taking our furry pals out for a jaunt. Well no more! This leash has everything but the kitchen sink attached. Here goes: Ezeleash features a hand sanitizer (just in case you have to touch something nasty), poop bags (did we mention touching something nasty?), a cell phone pocket (to order pizza on the way home), and so much more. I'm impressed with the hook they included to hold the full poop bag--after all, who wants to carry that? They call this all-in-one device the "future of urban dog walking" we call it pretty clever.

Climate controlled dog carriers

20080804s.jpg
If you think like us, then you think that a bon voyage can't be truly bon until it is a bone voyage. That's why we're so excited about the next generation of climate-controlled pet carriers coming onto the market in Fall 2008 from Komfort Pets. Ingeniously engineered, the carriers keep our doggies cool when it's hot, and warm when it's not. The Komfort Pets site shows Hollywood dazzlers at a splashy carrier event - there's Paris and Ricky and Mario and even Tony Bennett. Animal lovers will be tickled to know that Tony's son Danny once had a band Quacky Duck and His Barnyard Friends. But for us, the biggest celeb associated with Komfort Pets is Dr. Paul Irwin, former Prez and CEO (chewing executive officer) of The Humane Society of the United States. He gives the climate-controlled carriers from Komfort Pets his seal of approval. Seal, animal lovers; it's a dog of a joke.

Rachel Ray dog food

20080805n.jpg We are exhausted just trying to keep up with this woman. The tireless ray of sunshine, (aka Rachel Ray) has launched yet another business--this time for her furry fans. Ray says she worked with experts in pet nutrition to create Rachael Ray Nutrish. Isaboo (Ray's dog) seems to relish the taste. Pick from two flavors: beef and brown rice or chicken and veggies. Packed with quality ingredients, such as omega fatty acids, oatmeal, real beef and extra virgin olive oil, we bet our dog will join us in singing Ray's praises at suppertime.

Pet food bowl

20080804n.jpg We know you. You poo-poo plastic and turn your nose up at playful ceramic dishes. Everything in your world needs to have flair and class. Well Mr. and Mrs. Fancy Pants, we've just the doggie dish you've been searching for. This exceptional iron pet food bowl features a horse-head motif and antiqued finish. Handcrafted in Mexico, this piece of art was dreamed up by Jan Barboglio. Jan does it all by hand--cutting, forging, and finishing--and personalizes each dish with a signature plus a sentiment, proverb, or poem. Now that should suit the most discriminating pet parent.

Digital photo urn for dogs

20080803s.jpg Ashes to ashes and dust to dust are all well and good, but if you have to go, shouldn't you go in style? Dogs and other companion animals everywhere are just dying to get into the soignes urns sold through pet-urns.com. We don't really want to get into any of these items, but the one we'd most like to get into if we had to is the Digital Photo Urn. Inside go the remains, while outside, there is a state-of-the-art digital photo screen paired to a remote control. The Digital Photo Urn is available in walnut or oak, so if your dog asks for cherry ahead of time, she's barking up the wrong tree. The company's site has a good Pet Loss Support section that might help you and your family deal with your grief.

Dog poo bags

20080803n.jpg Sometimes we fail to see the humor in the dirty work of dog duty. Anything that makes us smile while tending to the poop and scoop routine we see as a bonus. That's why we like these 100% biodegradable poop bags. Billed as hygienic and environmentally friendly, we're more impressed with the marketing campaign "shit happens" and fancy packaging. And wouldn't you know it, these spiffy bags were dreamed up by a Berlin-based graphic design agency. Cuno, the agency's dog was responsible for inspiring this product. Now if we could just get equally inspired by our dog's poop we'd be in business!

Royal Regency dog coat

20080802s.jpg If you thought you saw me on the Champs-Elysees the other day, you thought right. Ginger the spoiled big city Sheltie here, telling you that the only thing that gets more attention than sparkling diamantique buckles are sparkling diamantique buckles on the Royal Regency dog coat, premiered by moi in La Ville Lumiere, The City of Lights (and of chiens fabuleux), Paris. The beaded velour collar band with hand-sewn Swarovski crystals, the colored thread pattern laid into the garment - and my human even let me take some delicate little laps out of a flute of premium rose champagne. My foredogs may have herded sheep in the islands north of Scotland, but darling, my heart beats for bubbly. If the comfy cotton lining of the Royal Regency Dog Coat could talk, it would say that my fur feels luxurious.

Dog biscuit cookbook

20080802n.jpg Jessica Disborw Talley and Eric Talley have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen. No, they weren't preparing a meal for their human friends. Instead they were perfecting recipes for their new book The Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook. These all-natural recipes are sure to appeal to owners who have abandoned commercial pet food, or folks like us who want to make a special treat now and again for our furry friends. It's not all biscuits. Recipes include the "Grillin and Chillin" hot dog treat made from a beef concoction. With over 100 "tail wagging" recipes, we are bound to find one that our pup will drool for.
